Although they sound like food (and maybe spark a hunger for life), La Papa is actually a musical unit for emergency interventions against boredom, bad moods, and general apathy. The duo, Nikola Dabac – Ninek and Stanislav Kovačić – Stane, may physically consist of two people, but energetically they are like seven. Musically, even more. Armed with a ukulele, cello, and – believe it or not – a virtual drum, these two striking men with dramatic hairstyles and an even more dramatic sense of humor come with a mission: to lift spirits, spread smiles, and soften hearts with their music. What sets them apart is not only their choice of instruments but also their repertoire, which defies the rules of mainstream music. With them, there is no turbo folk, no autotune, no melodrama. Instead, they play everything from classical and jazz to pop and rock, always with one important note: unobtrusively, with a dose of humor, and always with respect for the listener's ear. La Papa is more than a band. They are a culture of resistance – against triviality, grumpiness, and lack of humor. Each of their performances is a little therapy. One song will make you laugh.
